At the beginning of the 20^th century modernism began in Europe and America.

Modernist architect concentrated on the function of a building rather than on its decoration.

They used glass, steel and reinforced concrete.

The german architect Gropius founded a school of design named the Bauhous, that moved to dessau in 1922.

The schools new building was designed according to modernist principles.

The basic elements of design were: the cube, the sphere, the cone, the square, the circle and the triangle, all entirely white.

An artistic product could be broken down into its constituent parts and then recomposed.

The new buildings was characterized by steel framing, large areas of glass, white flat cement bands, flat roofs.

Le Corbusier wanted to create low-cost functional and comfortable housing for workers.

High-Tech or late modernism is the new multinational style and architects used it up to date technology.

Their exposed structures are light and strong using heavily insulated wall panels, steel and aluminium frames and mirror glass in neoprene gaskets.

High-Tech architects placed outside the building all the services to leave free space inside sow layouts for rooms can be changed at will.
