The tell-tale heart
deals with a murderer who wanted to kill an old man. They lived together. The
murderer couldn't stand old man's eye, because it was a pale blue eye with a
film over it. During the day the murderer was very kind with the victim, but
every night for seven night he went at his bedroom's door with a lantern,
slowly, very very slowly; but the old man didn't open his eye and so the
murderer wasn't excited to kill him. The eight night the old man open his eye
because he heard a sound and the murderer was very very excited, he put the
lantern into the room, he drugging the man to the floor and pulled the heavy
bed over him. The man gave a squeal. He was died. After, the murderer
dismembered the corps and he washed on the blood stones. He did the corps under
the bed. The neibourgh heard a scream in the night
and he called the police, who went to murderer's house. He said that he gave a
squeal because he had a nightmare. He said the police to search very well in
the house. The policemans were pretty calms and they
were talking, but the murderer heard a sound. It's low, dull and quick at the
beginning, then it becomes quicker and quicker, louder and louder. He thought
that the ringing he was hearing was in his head, was the beating of the old
man's heart and that the police heard it and he thought that the police was
making fun of him. At the finish, he confessed his murder.
The narrator is the
first person narrator and he's omniscient. The most important characters are
the murderer and the victim (an old man). The murderer is mud and he had
different behaviours with the old man during the story. The old man is a kind
of naïve person, infect he was killed by the murderer. The secondary
character is the police, who won the game. The setting is murderer's house,
especially old man's room. The climax of the story was when the murderer killed
the victim and it's described very well. The turning point was when the
murderer started hearing the beating of the heart. In this story the events are
in chronological and lineal order. This is a crime story because we know the
murderer from the beginning. In this story is very important the single effect,
which means that the focus of the author is on the workings pf the man mud
mind. Also, the narrator talk about murderer and he makes some observations to
show his sanity, but these comments make him seem muddier. In this story there
is gothic, mysterious and dark atmosphere. The sense of guilt is very important
because the murderer started hearing the beating of the heart because he was
very terrorized and he heard sounds that they didn't existent. Old man's eye
represented his conscience. During the story I thought that the murderer was
very clever and he didn't mud, but at the finish, when he confessed his crime,
he showed his disease.
